Soviet infantrymen advance through ruins in Yukhnov, during the Rzhev-Vyazma Offensive of the Rzhev Battles; a series of Soviet operations dating between 8 January 1942 and 31 March 1943. These operations took place in the general area of Rzhev, Sychyovka and Vyazma against German forces. These battles were also known as the “Rzhev meat grinder” due to huge losses by the Soviet Army.
